“Covenant Eyes” Lyrics

Look at dat, what you lookin at
Look at dat, what you lookin at
Look at dat, what you lookin at
Look at dat, what you lookin at

In a culture that is crazy, in a world that is fallen
It’s hard tryna live this thang according to your callin
Every time steppin at my heart its steady prowlin
Desires wagin war back n forth like they brawlin
Yea man hold up, I’m hopin when you see me
That you catch me watchin what I’m watchin
It ain’t easy
My heart wanted to see joy, but there’s too many decoys
And I don’t wanna end up in a trap like a dboy
Can’t be all relaxed, there ain’t no time for getting lazy
Time for us to act cause the times are getting crazy
So I wrote an agreement and I made my eyes sign it
I won’t look on a woman with no lust now underline it.

Look at dat, what you lookin at
Oooo she looking good, nah man I ain’t lookin back
I’m watchin what I’m watchin, and yeah this thang hard
Better watchin what I’m watchin
We gotta be on guard
Look at dat, what you lookin at
Oooo she looking good, nah man I ain’t lookin back
I’m watchin what I’m watchin, and yea this thang hard
Better watchin what I’m watchin
We gotta be on guard

Now if I listen to the radio
Then I would have to split open the swisha and fill it with green vine
And if I listen to the TV then you can catch me chasin plenty chicks, cause homie they fine
But I DDT my mind, put my flesh in figure four
Yea sometimes I fall, but this right here ain’t gon kill me folk
Cause if I had to be a blind amputee, I guarantee my Father here is purging me of all my impurity
Bang on em ba-bbang on go hard Father, rain on em ra-rrain on em show you God
Cause every time I slow up, that’s when my Father show up
Make make ways of escape then I’m right back scrappin like what up
Tell my TV to shutup what you selling I don’t want it
Hide that Word inside my heart, Ron Artest go and guard it no
I don’t want your goodies baby you can keep your cookies lady
I know they got M&Ms but this road I’m on is slim and shady

Look at dat, what you lookin at
Oooo she looking good, nah man I ain’t lookin back
I’m watchin what I’m watchin, and yeah this thang hard
Better watchin what I’m watchin
We gotta be on guard
Look at dat, what you lookin at
Oooo she looking good, nah man I ain’t lookin back
I’m watchin what I’m watchin, and yea this thang hard
Better watchin what I’m watchin
We gotta be on guard

With every single glance man my sin tries to kill me
So I ain’t giving in all my brothers gotta feel me
I’m free from my slavery you know that ain’t the real me
I belong to my God and I can’t let no lust steal me
There’s nothing I can gain the sister shouldn’t ain’t move me
Cause my God is holy the epitome of beauty
Bought me with a price and I’m prayin He would rule me
My eyes belong to Him
He’s my King and Lord truly
As men who trust Jesus, we can’t be cool wit all dat
So when my eyes start to trip, I tell ‘em boys to fall back
So if you see me look away don’t be surprised
Since I’m in love with my God
I got some covenant eyes

Look at dat, what you lookin at
Oooo she looking good, nah man I ain’t lookin back
I’m watchin what I’m watchin, and yeah this thang hard
Better watchin what I’m watchin
We gotta be on guard
Look at dat, what you lookin at
Oooo she looking good, nah man I ain’t lookin back
I’m watchin what I’m watchin, and yea this thang hard
Better watchin what I’m watchin
We gotta be on guard

Fantastic lyrics. Great to see these guys making an eternal investment within their cultural framework. Keep up the great job guys.

  3. CRYSTAL*CLEAR says:

I love this song. I try to live by it every day the fact that we belong to God and no sin should seperate us from him. If it is Jesus Christ we are repping, then in his image we should be stepping. “i belong to my God and i cant let no sin steal me” that is the best line in the whole song!!! keep reping the King Trip Lee and Pro!!!! Keep Repping the King!!!!!!!

I still love “If They Only Knew” an album by Trip Lee for transforming my heart towards God more completely. Applying principles, like when a girl walks by – I don’t look back, helped me break my porn addiction. Encountering 116 clique music one year ago and substituting it for secular rap helped me so much. I’m so grateful!

This track is a powerful reminder to continue moving towards Christ. It came at the right time in my life and was a reminder to me that when a girl walks by I don’t look back. “Eyes hath not seen nor tongue heard the things the Lord has prepared for those who love Him”. Lusting steals our love for the Saviour and supplants it for the love of the temporal. I will keep fighting the good fight against lust with this song as my anthem.

I am not enrolled in Covenant Eyes however K9 Web Protection is the filter I have on my computer. Nevertheless songs like this infiltrates one’s heart and takes away the desire to sin. I love you brothers for your work and the fruits we will enjoy together in the eternities.

    Regards,

    Mike.

Amen. It takes a real man to humble himself and admit his sexual sin. Praise God for His grace and church family. We men need to have accountability partners. Awesome Trip Lee and PRo.

  8. Jason Weaver says:

this article & song make a whole lotta of sense about how hard it is to live pure in a world full of sexual images. I was exposed to pornography when I was just 13 & have been struggling to break free of it ever since then.

  9. Jahmaal Marshall says:

It’s a blessing to see a brother in his position being honest about the daily struggles that Christians go through( I admire his courage and hope for the same courage in my own walk)…the eyes are the gateway to the heart and out hearts effect everything we do…he’s right, it can be awkward and weird to talk openly about struggles, but walking in the light about where we really are is more beneficial than detrimental in eternity. It’s not easy (trust!!) but it is necessary. May God bless both of these men and keep them so that they may be a testimony in this earth of the keeping power of God when we co-labor with Him (on His terms)….

  10. Wayno says:

This song, and the testimony of these two men really inspired me. I have been using CE at home and at work for a while now. And it has really helped, but about a year ago our company IT department told me I had to remove it from my work computer. (God knows why they wouldn’t encourage such software, but anyway) and I didn’t struggle for a while, but lately I have been. And my two accountability partners have been struggling lately too.

It’s time to get serious with God again. We aren’t fooling Him, no matter who else we hide this sin from. And since all sin is against Him, then ultimately we are gonna be accountable to Him, even if we don’t choose to be accountable to anyone else.

These sins are not harmless, and even if nobody knows about it, it still hurts yourself. Get straight with God, and with your brothers and sisters in Christ, and your spouse if you have one, and be accountable.

Humility is the key, so be who you gotta be,
and be free from the thing that wants to destroy you.
Live the joy that He can only bring.
The life of faith and humility.
You are who you are, because of Jesus Christ,
So keep close tabs on the windows to your soul, that are your eyes.
