Covenant Eyes Radio – Episode 77
[display_podcast]
On July 21, 2005, a group of concerned citizens in Uniontown, Indiana, started a round-the-clock protest against a newly opened adult superstore, the Lion’s Den. Rain or shine, the protesters have been there along I-65, 24 hours a day for the last five years.
They are known as the Uniontown Watchdogs.
Protesters dissuade truckers and other travelers from entering the Lion’s Den with signs that say whoever enters this store, that person’s picture will be taken and posted on the protesters’ website, War-Line.org. Truckers also have photos taken of their license plates sent to their employers.
Today we get to hear from the protesters themselves to hear about their experiences: Jon Pearce, pastor of First Baptist Church of Crothersville, and Rob Patterson, the one who posts photos on War-Line.org.
What do you think?
In an anonymous survey on our blog:
- 43.3% said, “I believe the Watchdogs have a right to protest, but their methods are harmful to their Christian message.”
- 56.7% said, “I believe the Watchdogs have a right to protest the way they are doing it, and I think their methods are an effective way to promote their anti-porn message.”
- No one thought the protesters were unlawfully harassing Lion’s Den patrons.

Just the norm.warline never would respond to these questions as they have no idea how to uphold a one-sided arguement that upholds thier own views and discards any arguement to them.
They have no excuse for warline and it’s explict media. The local gossip says several people told them they could not publish thier pics. When they published them with knowing unconsent they opened themselves to lawsuit.Warline constantly refuses to answer directly any question I ,packrat and others ask of thier soft porn site.
One of their more used scripture is as below:
Galatians 5:19-21 (New King James Version)
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[a] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[b] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Soft porn in my view is lewdness in a hatred way, they cliamed revelries for there ways and actions, they made outbursts of wrath claiming people were climbing, jumping cutting holes in the fence.
I really have a hard time encompassing why they think Galatians 5:19-21 would apply to them as it semms fitting due to thier pron site to hold them in retrospect of the same scripture.
They can put out all the timelines they want,I don’t really care about that.
My main point is thier support of thier own soft porn site when it should be opposed as well as Lion’s Den was.Apples should be the same color.Like I said,my main point, porn is porn soft or hard, lion’s den or warline, porn is porn!
@packrat – I understand completely. Anyone from warline want to reply to this concern about the explicit nature of the website itself?
They wont tell you that the law they speak of only went in to effect 3 days before opening. The judge went for the emergency response.
They also wont tell you about the little girl that came up missing right before this all took place. The little was thier catalyst, but instead of trying to clean the streets in that local(Crothersville)they decided to go after that biz which is about 8-10 miles away from Crothersville,IN.They refused to answer our questions.
It seemed they were to intimadated to go after street thugs and methheads in thier town.
@packrat – Actually if you listen to our interview they make very clear the timeline of events.
One of thier own protester/congregation members who is known locally by locals as the molestor protestor has recently pleaded gulity to molestation of a young girl. The protestors and the 1st Baptist church of Crothersville absolutley praise Owens and back him up fully. They tell us he is innocent but yet he pled guilty. You can find thier putting him up on a pedestal attitude on

@packrat – Thanks for the links to the forum. It sounds like there’s quite a controversy in Crothersville about the protest.
There is a local uprising against the protestors/watchdogs and thier blind congregation church.

Kudos to them for the closing of the porn store but attention needs pointed to thier soft porn site”
All one needs to do is look at thier warline site(us locals call it pornline)and you can see it contains much of the same soft porn pics as would be found on late night TV or in the front window of a porn shop.I can’t think of why you would support a one-sided protest.Porn is porn no matter who puts the pics up,soft porn included.
The locals havestarted a grass roots protest of the soft porn site(warline)and the blind congregation of the 1st Baptist church in Crothersville IN as moany of them support the soft porn site.
Anyone can compare that war(porn)line site to other soft porn media and the only differance is supposdly GOD tells them its alright to have a soft porn site.
Like I said, I cant load it due to restrictions and pretty shaky internet. But I am glad to hear that. I value the crusade against porn but I value evangelism far more. For porn to be eradicated, hearts need to surrender to God, not just be dissuaded from an action. Fight on Watchdogs
I think this is pretty much an exercise in futility. I admire their spirit and determination against porn, but the method seems to be such a waste. These anti-porn crusaders could have used much more effective outreach methods than a protest over the past 5 years.
Their efforts are aimed towards dissuading others from porn but what if over these past 5 years they had focused on the need for broad evangelism instead? What if instead of 5 years of 24 hour protesting of one porn shop, they had focused on 5 years of 24 hour evangelism?
Those turned away out of shame will just go to another shop or the internet. But for a man to surrender his life to Christ, this is a far greater outcome that will go beyond just a one day decision. Catch a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he will eat for life.
For those who do not know Christ as Savior, it is not porn that is keeping them from Him. Their efforts may be impressive but I think their energy misdirected.
Granted all this is said without looking at the website as my host country is blocking it. I may be missing the big picture but based off this article, this is my opinion.
@XIII – Don’t know if you actually listened to the interview, but the whole time they were also engaged in evangelism and praying with the various people who came to the Lion’s Den (in addition to their protest).
