More Than Single

Pornography use is, sadly, common among singles today. According to a recent survey, 70% of single men and 16% of single women watch porn at least once a month. For single Christians, often hard-pressed between loneliness and lust, the temptation to watch porn can be overwhelming. Porn is treated as the excusable compromise until “the one” comes along.

Today we are talking to Lisa Eldred, author of the new Covenant Eyes book, More Than Single: Finding Purpose Beyond Porn. In this interview she talks about why she wrote this book and what makes it unique.

Show Notes:

0:49 – How did you start working at Covenant Eyes?

6:10 – What inspired you to write this book?

8:59 – Why write a book specifically for singles about overcoming pornography?

18:57 – Is the book for men, women, or both?

21:56 – One of the unique angles in this book is the role of the arts in a single person’s life. Why is this an emphasis?

We need more understanding of gay singles and gay marriage and getting beyond porn and into relationship.

  2. Winston Hanson

Many single men who use porn have sexual anorexia. It is safer for them because they have a social phobia. This can destroy most marriages.

    • Chadwick Marrero

That is absolutely nonsense. Many single men (including myself) use porn because they are tired of dealing with feminist BS from women.

    • Pastor Gilliam

As a pastor who is currently counseling single men with pornography addiction, I’m inclined to agree with Chadwick. Many people are under the mistaken impression that pornography is the problem when it is, in actuality, a symptom of a deeper and deadlier disease of radical feminism. The fact of the matter is that we will not able to fight pornography effectively without addressing radical feminism.

    • Not that I disagree with you outright, but is there a particular reason you believe “radical” feminism is to blame over, say, other forms of feminism?

  3. I lost my wife Oct. 2014. Not ready for dating scene. Our sexlife was great until she became ill about 3 years ago.

    • So sorry to hear about your loss, Bill.

The book Lisa wrote is not really about dating, per se, but about contentment in singleness that leads to joy. Hope you find it helpful!

  4. Jim Cooper

I use Covenant Eyes articles in my teaching of God’s principals to control sexual addiction.

    • Wonderful, Jim. Thanks for spreading the word!
