I have seen the “run to” strategy bear fruit in my life when I pray to God at my room when I am at home or when I am at church and I ask Him to forgive me and help me repent of all my sexual sins with all my heart, occasionally fasting and shedding tears because of how I feel for the things I have done wrong. I have done my best to stop looking at pornography over the last year, but I have felt that there have been times that it has been hard for me to physically stop myself from going to a website that may have pornographic material, or visually stop myself from looking at a pornographic image or video that I did not mean to look at but which happened to show up on my tablet or on TV, or even stop myself mentally from thinking about a pornographic image or video that I have seen in the past, if it comes to my mind randomly. For these reasons, it has been hard for me to stop viewing pornography, considering I became addicted to it at one point in my life. For now, I have not viewed pornography for a few days, and I do not want to view it anymore, if I can help it, because I know it will not only harm me but also those people who surround me in the long run, if I continue viewing it. For now, I have faith in God the Lord that He has forgiven me of all my sins, including my sexual sins, and that He will set me free from porn and masturbation addiction. Thanks for the article. I will do what I can to apply the things mentioned in this video to my life to help me in the struggle against lust and pornography.

    • Thanks, Angel.

Your comment about asking God to forgive you got me thinking about a recent article we published here you might want to read. It’s called “Are You Repenting the Wrong Way?

A lot of your struggles sound like the need for more “run from” strategies: find ways to make it hard for you to access porn. As the saying goes, when you’re at your best, plan for your worse. In those moments when you have a clear head, what stop-gaps can you put in place to make accessing porn really difficult?

    • Angel Galvan

Hi Luke, thanks for the link to the other article. I read it, and I believe I have repented the right way. Well, some things I have done in the past, and more so recently, which I have found really helpful in keeping me from accessing porn is become more educated in the topics of pornography, sex addiction, sex trafficking, and masturbation whenever I have felt tempted to look at pornography online or visit a pornographic website. For example, reading blogs in Christian websites and other anti-porn websites such as Covenant Eyes that address these topics, and occasionally making donations to some of these websites has been a significantly helpful way for me to keep myself from looking at pornography online.
