Finally a visual tool to combat the visual assault of pornography on our families.

Alan is a quiet, unpretentious bachelor with a dark obsession. After repeated encounters with pornography, he gradually finds himself immersed deeper and deeper in a surreal world where he is losing self-control. In front of his computer screen, he indulges night after night in pornography until it begins to take over his thoughts. Then he realizes—perhaps too late—that his private infatuation is bleeding over into his relationships. Will he cut the ties with porn before it takes over completely?

This is the plot of the short, creative film Willful Entrapment.

In order to help break the silence around this issue, this 20-minute film is both relentlessly realistic, showing how porn addiction can affect a person’s entire life, and vividly surreal, filled with rich symbolism.

There are 12 psychological characteristics of being caught in an addiction cycle, and these are woven into the plot of the story. The whole film was crafted with engagement in mind. More than merely an entertaining piece, the film jumpstarts discussions around the key elements of addiction. It was created as a conversation-opener to talk about the impact of pornography, and, in my opinion, will succeed at doing exactly that.

The film is both tastefully done and visually-arresting. (Though it deals with pornography, it contains no pornography.) The viewing experience is edgy, dark, and revealing—like Steve McQueen’s Shame meets Gore Verbinki’s The Ring. But as blatantly dark as plot becomes, it is just as blatant about the path to freedom.

The director has offered our readers a special deal: you can get the film for 30% off.

I’ve known the film’s writer and director, Francois Driessen, for several years. When he visited our headquarters three years ago, we talked at length about the importance of accountability and the need for the church to discuss the topic of pornography openly and honestly. His vision for this film is as ambitious as the film itself: he hopes it will be utilized across the world to help men and women open up.

Thank you Luke very much! Luke, do you ever speak on public school campus’ on this subject. I am a chaplain at NDSU in Fargo ND. I would be interested in if you speak to University Students to help raise awareness. Thanks

      • I do, yes. If you are interested, contact me at luke.gilkerson [at] covenanteyes.com.

I can highly recommend Connie Lofgreen’s book, The Storm of Sex Addiction: Rescue and Recovery. She is a marriage and family therapist, as well as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Lofgreen is an expert in the field and has been a consultant and educator to the Faith Community and clergy- see Ch. 13 in her book. She’d be ideal to speak at the University. Luke, good luck with this important work!
