The Safe Digital Family Challenge
Day 7: Resources We Trust
We’ve made it through to the end of this challenge, but this was just one week in the middle of 18 years of raising a child to adulthood. In other words, you probably want more support and information than this!
Here are just a few follow-up steps to take as you continue to train your kids to use technology wisely.
First, make sure you install the Victory app by Covenant Eyes. This app, which is available to download for free, offers a growing number of courses on all sorts of topics related to pornography. You may want to look at the course “Why Your Brain Craves Porn” to understand why porn hooks people. Additionally, the course “How Should I Talk to My Kids About Porn?” provides specific advice about addressing the topic. You don’t need to use Covenant Eyes Accountability to use this app, but if you do use Covenant Eyes, you’ll also have easy access to see your kids’ activity right in the app.
Second, we have three ebooks focused specifically on raising children to make healthy decisions online.
- Equipped is about having honest conversations, teaching media literacy, and more.
- Confident helps parents who learn that their children have already seen pornography.
- Connected explores how a strong family connection leads to resilient kids who have no desire to watch porn.
Third, follow our friends over at Protect Young Eyes. Their expert team helped us create this challenge. They’ll keep you up to date on the games and apps your children use.
Finally, don’t forget to sign up for Covenant Eyes, start modeling a life of accountability for your kids, and walk alongside them as they use technology.
Don’t forget: Whether your kids are still young or getting ready to graduate, it’s not too late to make a difference in how they use technology.
Questions for Reflection:
- What’s your big takeaway from this week?
- What’s your next step to helping your family use technology well?
