Groomed, Kidnapped, and Tortured – A Woman Speaks Out Ten Years After Her Abduction

Last Updated: February 20, 2014

Covenant Eyes Radio – Episode 120

[powerpress]

Ten years ago today, the FBI searched the townhouse of Scott Tyree in suburban Washington D.C. and found 13-year-old Alicia Kozakiewicz bound to a bed. She had been missing for 4 days.

Now, a decade later, Alicia speaks with us about her experience of being deceived and groomed online by this predator over a period of 8 months, only to be abducted by him and taken to his home on New Year’s Day, where she was raped, beaten, and tortured.

Alicia not only recounts her own horrific experience, but talks with us about what online grooming is, and how important it is for parents to be aware of how their kids are using the Internet.

Today’s podcast may not be suitable for some audiences. Listener discretion is advised.

Parents need to watch what kids are doing online even if the site may seem okay. I was on a peer to peer help chat line and thought i was helping a fellow teen that was suicidual. I had to get off the computer so i gave him my number. I really thought it was an emergancy. Later we met in person because i he said he knew some of my friends and even knew their names. He was supposed to pick me up so we could all hang out. Instead he took me down some back roads and raped me. He lied to me about his age and said he was a student. However he wasn’t a student but a United States NAVY officer. Please pay attention to what Alicia says. I wish i had known what she says now then. Please dont disregard her message thinking it wont happen to you. It could very well happen to anybody take the precautions to minimize the opportunaties for it to happen to any one. These are our children our future and we need people to spread the word. Help to raise awareness.

@Angela – I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. Creeps like that prey on the most vulnerable, and it is so easy with children online today. I’m curious: Do you do anything today to help spread awareness about this issue?
