Do women look at porn? Yes. Here are the stats.

Last Updated: August 4, 2020

If there ever was a time when porn was an exclusively male habit, that time is long gone.

Here are some of the most recent statistics about women and pornography use…

According to a recent survey by the Barna Research Group, 65% of Millennial women say they view porn at least a few times a year. This is twice the number of Gen X women who watch it.

Want more resources about women and porn addiction? Get some of our most popular articles, podcasts, and videos for women who want to break free from the grip of pornography.

  1. Watching?

Watching porn? Heck, they are doing it and watching it. Really think about the millions of women who do some form of porn. We act like it is some small group of women but it isn’t. Between web cams, porn stars, strippers, hookers, massage girls, escorts, models, and homemade porn, one thing is very clear, lots of women are using sex. But we never ever hold women accountable. If you do, you are called misogynist, or insensitive, or a bully. In this day and age, you must ignore all the things women do. You are never going to solve the porn problem when women make mountains of it.

  2. JC

I believe it to be more than just a few times a year. Look at the evidence around you. Many women are doing some form of porn. Not just watching… but doing. We really kid ourselves in America. When you have Kylie Jenner posing in bikini’s at 12, Miley Cyrus posing nude in vanity fair at 15 and riding an inflatable penis a few years later. The message is clear and women heard it. Times have changed. Women are not fragile little innocent flowers anymore. What you are seeing is the results of that message. But honesty, anyone with any intelligence already knows this. Ever see high school girls anymore? They look nothing like the high school girls I went to school with and I am not that old. Heck, half of them, if you saw them get out of a car, you would never know they were in high school. Clubs are crawling with underage girls. Most guys never even know. This is a good article though. It brings attention to this issue. We seem to think it is the fifties in America still and it is not.

    • The statistics are based on professional anonymous survey of the Barna Research Group. They state that the sampling error for the entire survey is ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, so I’m not sure if the numbers are greater, as you claim. However, if you take out those who claim to view porn only several times a year and focus only on women who view porn once a month or more, then the statistics look like this.

      Young Boomers: 5%
      Gen-X: 11%
      Millennials: 34%

  3. As disheartening as this news is, it’s interesting there are still very significant differences of perspective and value (resulting in very different susceptibility and statistical ratios) between men and women–not just toward pornography, but physicality and sexuality in general. There are also drastic differences between women themselves on these issues; with men, very little.

I believe that we, as the Body of Christ, need to be aware of these differences so we can appropriately and biblically address them.
