When it comes to overcoming habitual sins, like viewing pornography, we often need more than just more determination, more Bible reading, and more prayer. We need a second set of eyes to help us see what we cannot see or refuse to see. We need someone who is a little farther down the road to guide us.
Some call this mentoring. Michael Leahy goes one step further and calls it “sexual integrity discipleship.”
Recently I spoke with Michael about his mentorship program and why he is so passionate about it.
As Michael has traveled all over the the U.S. and Europe telling his story, he has had over 100 million media impressions from local, national, and international news stations. His “Porn Nation” campus tours reached tens of thousands of students. But in recent years, he felt God calling him back to the ministry of one-on-one mentorship: discipling men who have be ensnared by sexual sin.
Michael describes himself as a “Sherpa guide” to help men take the journey from sexual slavery to freedom. He feels that for many men, what they need most is a genuine connection to another man who can “quarterback” the process of recovery—not as a replacement for support groups, accountability groups, or professional counseling, but coming alongside these tools to guide the whole process.
