Why have more than one username?

Different people need different levels of protection. Don’t try to fit everyone into the same mold.

Whether you’re using Covenant Eyes in your home or in your organization, chances are, more than one person will use Covenant Eyes. Creating a username for each person will make the Covenant Eyes experience better for everyone.

Already have a Covenant Eyes account and want to add or remove usernames? You can add them online, or call our free Customer Support team. They are available from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (EST) Saturday. Call toll free within the US at 1.877.479.1119, or outside the US at +1.989.720.8000.

Multiple usernames in your home

Imagine being a husband and father with the sole Covenant Eyes username in your family and getting a concerned phone call from your Accountability Partner, who found your wife’s and daughter’s shopping for undergarments showing up on your Accountability Report. Or imagine being a mother trying to use the same Filter settings designed for your 5-year-old. If you’re trying to have more than one person use a single username, you’re probably creating very similar experiences in your home.

Here’s how adding usernames helps:

More accurate reports

When you sign into Covenant Eyes with your own unique username, Covenant Eyes monitors only those sites visited while you were logged in, regardless of what sites other users on the same computer might have visited using their own usernames.

This means if you’re a parent, you won’t have to waste time figuring out whether your 12-year-old or your 17-year-old visited a site rated T (Teen). You can even set your Report Sensitivity Levels so that your reports for your 12-year-old show sites rated T and above, and your 17-year-old’s report shows only those sites rated MT (Mature Teen) and above.

Better conversations

When your Accountability Report shows only the sites you visited and not everything your family saw, you can stop explaining away other people’s Internet use and spend time focusing on what you did online this week.

Flexible parental controls for Filter users

This means that you can set different parental controls for your teenager than for your young child, including allowed and blocked sites and time controls for how long they can be online every day. (Filter time controls are currently only available on Windows.)

PLEASE NOTE: If someone in your family is set up as an Accountability Partner but does not have an Accountability or Filtering username, they will be able to sign into “My Account,” but will not be able to sign into Covenant Eyes on your computer. They will need their own Covenant Eyes username to access the Internet.

Multiple usernames in your organization

You might think that everyone in your organization or business is working at the same level and that you can just use one username to save yourself some money, but in reality, you may be costing your business valuable time and resources by trying to fit everyone into the same pattern. Giving each employee or member their own username will save you a lot of time and headaches.

Save time

Don’t waste time trying to figure out whether it was Cobb in Accounting who spent all day goofing off on YouTube, or Reynolds, the social media guru, who was doing research on YouTube for a new series of videos your organization is producing. You will have better conversations with your team if each member has their own username.

Customize the Filter to your staff’s needs

You might want to put Facebook on the Always-Block list to prevent Cobb in Accounting from wasting his time at work, but that means Reynolds, the social media marketing guru, won’t be able to do his job if he shares the same Covenant Eyes username with Cobb. Setting up each person with a unique Covenant Eyes username means that each Filter user’s experience will be exactly what he or she needs.
