New Resource Available for Porn Addicts

A brand new resource is available today for those who feel caught in the grip of pornography addiction. The “Freedom Begins Here” tool kits are available for purchase online (available in select stores later this year). This is a quality DVD series that will teach clear strategies for those struggling with sexual temptation to understand their needs, find inspiration to be transformed, and develop a means of personal accountability. A church tool kit is also available that gives church leaders resources to help their members with habitual sin. All of these tool kits have a Covenant Eyes CD included in them.

Just What the Doctor Ordered

Dr. Mark Laaser was just featured in the Christianity Today cover story about sexual addiction this month. Dr. Laaser is an internationally known author and speaker, whose first book, Faithful and True, broke new ground in the Christian literature world on the subject of sexual addiction. Laaser is not merely a licensed professional: he is a former sex addict himself. With a passion to see lives changed, his vision was to create an accredited video training course for other licensed counselors to work with those who struggle with sexual sin.

Quality Video Production

A few years ago, Dr. Laaser met Gary Gray, founder of Gray Communications, an experienced team of video and digital media professionals. Their stated mission is to develop creative, effective, communication tools that utilize the latest technology while maintaining a continuing focus on quality and integrity.

Together they produced Laaser’s video training course for counselors, but the vision got bigger. They wanted to be able to put something into the hands of pastors, teachers, and individual men and women that would help them through sexual addictions.

Now Gray Communications, in cooperation with Gary Smalley, has produced a whole product line called Freedom Begins Here—DVD tool kits for churches, pastors, and individuals who are looking for practical help with issues related to pornography addiction.

20/50 Crisis

As a part of their pre-launch events, Freedom Begins Here has been on tour with the band Rush of Fools since the fall of 2007. On this tour they are presenting audiences with a startling thought:

“A startling survey recently revealed that 50% of Christian men and 20% of Christian women admit they are addicted to pornography. Not just struggling . . . addicted. That’s 84 million Christians.”

This is what they are calling the 20/50 Crisis.

Accountability: A Key Piece of the Puzzle

Covenant Eyes has joined the cause of Freedom Begins Here by placing our software in every tool kit that is purchased. Christianity Today writes, “[Dr. Mark] Laaser believes in safety in numbers. More people in a man’s circle aware of his problems, the greater the probability he will get better. . . . In an accountability network, participants recognize they will at times be too vulnerable or too weak to call for help. Thus, an addict gives permission to other men to call and check on him.”

We hope that our software provides the ‘answer’ to those looking for help in using the Internet safely and to bring accountability relationships closer that in the end those numbers (20/50) will be drastically reduced.
