For those who are interested, Dr. William M. Struthers, associate professor of psychology at Wheaton College is conducting an online survey for those who have struggled with habitual porn use.
- The survey takes about 30 minutes.
- It includes questions about demographic information (age, gender, education, etc), a section on personality type, spirituality/religiosity, interpersonal style, and sexual history.
- All data will be kept confidential and anonymous.
- The study has been approved by the Wheaton College Institutional Review Board.
As a researcher, Dr. Struthers wants to provide a clearer scientific understanding of why porn has a hold on so many people. The only way the APA will consider adding porn addiction to the DSM-V is if the scientific community starts putting forward empirical evidence.
Thanks for the tip – I’ll certainly try to send some visitors to this survey.
The case for DSM-V acknowledgement of ‘porn addiction’ is the subject of much debate, but good to see qualified scientific research and interest.
