Why can’t I get online on Android™?

If you’re unable to access the internet in a browser on your Android™ device, this article will help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Are you receiving an error message when you attempt to browse?

Are you successfully connected to the internet?

Are you unable to open the browser app?


No internet connection.

Your Android™ device needs to be connected to the internet in order for you to browse. If you don’t have an internet connection, you may see one of these screens when you try to access a website:

Solution

  • Verify that Airplane Mode is turned off.
  • Restart your Android™ device.
  • Check your Wifi or Cellular Data connection.

Your filter settings are currently blocking your access to (page name).

Covenant Eyes blocks websites on your device in two ways: by Blocking Level and your Custom Website List. If we block a website on your device, you’ll see this screen:

Solution

To access a safe site that the filter is blocking, follow these steps to unblock it:

  1. Login to My Account (our online member portal) and see if the site is in your Custom Website List as a blocked site. If it is, remove the site by selecting the trashcan icon.
  2. Enter the name of the site into your Custom Website List and click the green “Allow” button.
  3. Refresh the Covenant Eyes app on your device.
  4. Try and access the website again.

WiFi

Your WiFi connection, if it’s slow or weak, can prevent you from accessing the internet on your device.

Solution

If you’re trying to use WiFi and are unable to access websites, follow these steps:

  1. Check that your Android™ is actually connected to WiFi.
  2. Check that Airplane Mode is turned off.
  3. Restart your Android™ and try to load the desired webpage again.
  4. If you still cannot connect your device to WiFi, refer to your manufacturer for support or switch to Cellular Data.

Cellular Data

If your Cellular Data connection is weak, you may not be able to access the internet on your device.

Solution

If you’re trying to use Cellular Data and are unable to access websites, follow these steps:

  1. Check that your Android™ is actually connected to Cellular Data.
  2. Check that Airplane Mode is turned off.
  3. Restart your Android™ and try to load the desired webpage again.
  4. If you still cannot connect your device to Cellular Data, refer to your phone carrier for support or switch to WiFi.

Enter passcode to temporarily unlock (app name).

The Covenant Eyes app for Android™ App Locking feature allows you to block and lock apps from being opened/used. If App Locking is set up and locking an app, you’ll see this screen when you try to open the app:

Solution

When you and/or your ally set up App Locking on your Android™ device, you created a four-digit code that protects the App Locking settings from the member/device owner. You have a few options:
