Covenant Eyes and Monterey

Monterey (macOS 12) is compatible with Covenant Eyes! In terms of accountability, not much has changed. To ensure accountability you need to:

Important: Members that use a Mac Administrator profile on their computers can disable these settings at any time and a Service Interruption message will appear on their next report. To prevent the member from disabling these settings, create a “Standard user” profile for them to use on the Mac®.


Set Up Blocking

These steps are only for members that are subscribed to our filtering service, which blocks explicit websites. If you aren’t subscribed to our filter service, skip to the next section in this article (Enable Notifications).

  1. On the Let’s set up Blocking window, click “Continue.”
  2. On the Covenant Eyes Would Like to Filter Network Content window, click “Allow.”
  3. On the System Extension Blocked windows, click “Open Security Preferences.”
  4. On the Security & Privacy window, click the lock icon in the lower left-hand corner.
  5. On the System Preferences is trying to unlock Security & Privacy preferences window, enter your Mac Administrator computer password and click the “Unlock” button.
  6. Next to System software from application “Covenant Eyes” was blocked from loading, click the “Allow” button.
  7. Finally, click the lock icon in the lower-left corner and then close Security & Privacy. Then select “Done” from the module at the top of the screen.

Enable Notifications

Covenant Eyes will prompt you with two alert banners to allow notifications.

  1. Hover over the notifications, click the “Options” menu, and select “Allow.”

Set Up Screen Accountability

  1. On the Let’s set up Screen Accountability window, click “Continue.”
  2. On the Covenant Eyes is requesting permission to record your screen window, click “Open Security Preferences.”
  3. On the Security & Privacy window, click the lock icon in the lower left-hand corner.
  4. On the System Preferences is trying to unlock Security & Privacy preferences window, enter your Mac Administrator computer password and click the “Unlock” button.
  5. On the Security & Privacy window, click next to “Covenant Eyes” to check-mark it.
  6. On the Covenant Eyes will not be able to record the contents of your screen… window, click “Quit & Reopen.”
  7. Finally, click the lock icon in the lower-left corner and then close Security & Privacy.
  8. On the Installation and setup complete window, click “Done.” Congratulations! You’ve finished installing Covenant Eyes for Mac®. You should see a bolded Covenant Eyes logo at the top-right corner of your screen.
