If, after installing Covenant Eyes on your Mac, you notice an error telling you “Your computer is not protected. Error: M061 system extension requires authorization,” here are a few easy steps to clear the message and make sure your computer is protected.
Why did you receive this message?
The system extension is part of our software and, usually, is enabled automatically. On occasion, it does not get enabled because the Mac User profile has not given Covenant Eyes the authority to enable the extension. Changing that will only take you a few minutes.
What do you do next?
- Click the Apple icon at the top-left corner of your screen and click “System Preferences.”
- When the System Preferences window appears, click the option for “Security & Privacy.”
- In the new window that appears, make sure you are in the “General” tab. Click the lock icon in the lower-left corner and enter the computer’s administrator password. Above the lock icon, there should be a message indicating that “Covenant Eyes, Inc.” was blocked from loading. Click the “Allow” button.
If you were successful in allowing the Covenant Eyes system extension, the message at the bottom of the Security & Privacy window should disappear, and you should no longer see the M061 error message.
