What is the difference between an Account Administrator, an Ally, and a Filter Guardian?

Account Administrators, Allies, and Filter Guardians are account roles. Each role has an unique purpose for the account. One single person can hold all roles, or they can be divided between multiple people.

Learn About Account Roles:

There are three account roles. Select one to learn more:

  • Account Administrator
  • Filter Guardian
  • Ally

The Account Administrator (Admin)

The Admin is in charge of the entire account, everyone on the account, and all account/member settings.

Admins do not have to subscribe to Covenant Eyes or install anything. They do need to create a free profile with Covenant Eyes so they can manage their account on our website.

Note: In some cases, the person in recovery wants someone else to be the Admin. If desired, you can invite someone else to become your Account Administrator.

The Admin can:

  • Add/remove filtering
  • Add/remove members
  • Assign/remove allies
  • Assign/remove Filter Guardians
  • Cancel the account
  • Generate uninstall codes
  • Update billing/subscription information

Filter Guardian

The Filter Guardian controls the filter (website blocking) settings for the person they’re helping.

Filter Guardians do not have to subscribe to Covenant Eyes or install anything. They do need to create a free profile with Covenant Eyes so they can manage the member’s filter settings on our website.

Only the Account Administrator can invite and assign Filter Guardians for members on their account.

Filter Guardians can:

  • Adjust the Blocking Level
  • Add/remove websites to the Custom Website List

Ally

An ally is like a mentor or sponsor to the person that uses Covenant Eyes. The ally also holds the person that uses Covenant Eyes accountable by receiving email reports of their activity or by reviewing their activity in real-time with the Victory app.

Note: The Admin can assign allies to members on their account and Covenant Eyes members can invite anyone to receive their activity.

Allies can:

  • Install the Victory app for 24/7 access to activity with the Activity Feed
  • Learn about pornography addiction through Victory’s educational mini-courses
