Comcast and Cox Filtering Issue on Mac®

This support article will help you troubleshoot the “Your filter settings are currently blocking your access to [website]” message.

  • You will need to disable the Advanced Security feature. This should resolve the issue now and will avoid a repeat of it in the future.
  • If this does not resolve the issue, please reboot your router and Mac®, and then try getting online.
  • If necessary, uninstall Covenant Eyes and replace it with the most up-to-date version of Covenant Eyes for Mac.

How to disable Advanced Security in Comcast, via the xFi app:

(Cox subscribers can follow the same steps in the Cox Panoramic WiFi app. It’s the same stuff with different branding.)

    1. Open the xFi app.
    2. Tap the “More” option which is located near the bottom of the screen.
    3. In the More Options category, tap “My Services.”
    4. Select “Disable” and follow the on-screen prompts.
    5. Finally, you may need to restart your router for the change to take effect.

How to disable Advanced Security in Comcast, via the website:

    1. Log into your Xfinity xFi Web Portal (http://xfinity.com/myxFi)
    2. Click “More.”
    3. Select “My Services.”
    4. Select “Disable” (which is right under xFi Advanced Security) and follow the on-screen prompts.
    5. Finally, you may need to restart your router for the change to take effect.

How to disable Advanced Security in Cox, via the Cox Panoramic WiFi app:

    1. Open the Cox Panoramic WiFi app
    2. Tap the “More” option which is located near the bottom of the screen.
    3. In the More Options category, tap “My Services.”
    4. In the Advanced Security section, select “Disable” and follow the on-screen prompts.
    5. Finally, you may need to restart your router for the change to take effect.
