Webroot and Covenant Eyes

This page explains the process for configuring the 2021 version of Webroot. For assistance, please reach out via chat, email or phone.


To Install Covenant Eyes

  1. From your desktop, right-click on the Webroot icon in the system tray and select “Shut down Protection” from the menu.
     
  2. Webroot should bring up a window to confirm you would like to make this change. Click the “Yes” button.
  3. Next, enter the numbers/letters you see and click the “Continue” button.
  4. After a moment, the Webroot icon should disappear from the system tray. You can now proceed with installing Covenant Eyes.

Making Covenant Eyes a Whitelisted Script

  1. From the Webroot home page, click on the Settings gear icon at the far right of the PC Security header.
  2. On the PC Security page, select the “Whitelisted Scripts” tab.
  3. From here, check for Covenant Eyes on the list. If it is not there, click on “Advanced Whitelist” in the lower, left corner.
  4. Navigate to the CE folder by clicking This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > CE. Select the “CE” folder and click the “Select” button.
  5. You should be brought back to the Whitelisted Scripts tab. In order to add an extra level of protection for Covenant Eyes, click the “Whitelist a file” button to the right.
  6. Navigate to the CE folder by clicking This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > CE. Select one of the Covenant Eyes files and click the “Open” Button.

    There are three Covenant Eyes files that need to be added:

    • CovenantEyes.exe
    • CovenantEyesClassifier.exe
    • CovenantEyesCommService.exe
  7. You should be brought back to the Whitelisted Scripts tab. Repeat the previous steps for the rest of the Covenant Eyes files. Once they have all been added, you can close the Webroot windows. You may need to reboot to be able to get online.

Allowing Covenant Eyes through Scans and Firewall

  1. From the Webroot home page, click on the Settings gear icon at the far right of the PC Security header.
  2. On the PC Security page, select the “Block/Allow Files” tab.
  3. On the Block/Allow Files tab, if any Covenant Eyes files are missing from the page, click the “Add File” button.

    There are three Covenant Eyes files that need to be present:

    • CovenantEyes.exe
    • CovenantEyesClassifier.exe
    • CovenantEyesCommService.exe
  4. Navigate to the CE folder by clicking This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > CE. Select one of the missing Covenant Eyes files and click the “Open” Button.
  5. The file should now be on the list. Make sure it is marked under the Allow column. Repeat the previous steps to add all of the Covenant Eyes files. Once they are all on the list and allowed, you can close Webroot.
