Trend Micro and Covenant Eyes

This page explains the process for configuring the 2021 version of Trend Micro. For assistance, please reach out via chat, email, or phone.


To Install Covenant Eyes

  1. Before you install Covenant Eyes, temporarily disable Trend Micro by right-clicking on the Trend Micro icon from the Windows toolbar.
  2. From the menu that populates, select “Exit.”
  3. The Trend Micro icon will disappear from the Windows toolbar. You can now install Covenant Eyes.

Allowing Covenant Eyes through the Firewall

  1. From the Trend Micro home page, click on the gear icon.
  2. From the Protection Settings page, select “Internet & Email Controls.”
  3. From the Internet & Email Controls sub-menu, select “Network.”
  4. From the Network menu, select “Windows Firewall” at the top of the page.
  5. Trend Micro will open the Windows Defender Firewall setting. Select “Allow an app or feature through the Windows Defender Firewall” from the left-hand side of the screen.
  6. From the Allowed apps page, select the “Change settings” button at the top of the screen.
  7. From the bottom right-hand corner of the Allowed apps page, select “Allow another app..” button.
  8. From the Add an app page, select the “Browse…” button.
  9. To open up the CE (Covenant Eyes) folder, click the following:  This PC > OS (C:) > Program Files > CE.

  10. Select one of these three required Covenant Eyes files, the name will automatically go in the File name area, and you can click the “Open” button:
    – CovenantEyes.exe
    – CovenantEyesClassifier.exe
    – CovenantEyesCommservice.exe
  11. Once you’ve selected one of the three required Covenant Eyes files, select the “Add” button.
  12. Repeat steps 6-10 until you’ve added all three Covenant Eyes files and they are listed on the Allowed apps page. Make sure all three files are checked for “Private” and “Public.” You can then select the “OK” button to save the changes.

Making Covenant Eyes an Allowed Application

  1. From the Trend Micro home page, click on the gear icon.
  2. From the Protection Settings page, select “Exception Lists.”
  3. From the Exception Lists sub-menu, select “Programs/folders” and then the “+Add” button.
  4. From the Add an Item page, select the “Browse…” button.
  5. Navigate to the CE (Covenant Eyes) folder by This PC > OS (C:) > Program Files > CE and then select the “Open” button.
  6. From the Add an Item page, select the “OK” button.
  7. You should see C:\Program Files\CE listed. Select the “Apply” button to save.

Making an Exclusion for Covenant Eyes’ Websites

  1. From the Trend Micro home page, click on the gear icon.
  2. From the Protection Settings page, select “Exception Lists.”
  3. From the Exception Lists sub-menu, select “Websites” and then the “+Add” button.
  4. From the Add an Item page, select the bubble next to “Add the address (URL) of a website” and type in: covenanteyes.com. Then from the Response menu select “Trust website” and select “OK.”
  5. You should see covenanteyes.com listed. Select the “+Add” button again.
  6. From the Add an Item page, select the bubble next to “Add the address (URL) of a website” and type in: cvnt.net. Then from the Response menu select “Trust website” and select “OK.”
  7. You should see both covenanteyes.com and cvnt.net listed. Select the “Apply” button to save.
