Covenant Eyes Radio – Episode 58

[display_podcast]

Fred StoekerTen years ago a book hit the Christian market that has since become an international best-seller: Every Man’s Battle. For a decade this book, and many others in the Every Man’s Series, have helped to strengthen men in their resolve to fight for sexual purity.

Today we play part of our conversation with co-author Fred Stoeker. Fred shares with us the importance of “making a covenant with our eyes” in the battle against lust. Fred also talks about what he has learned over the last 10 years. I asked Fred, “If you were writing Every Man’s Battle today, how might you write it differently?” In our interview, Fred shares his answer to this question and more.

I praise God for putting it on the hearts of Fred Stoeker and Steven Arterburn to write Every Man’s Battle. I first saw it in the bookstore several years ago, and for the first time I had hope that I was not alone in my struggle and that help was available. The book and the authors’ respective ministries have been a huge part of my recovery.

I still struggle with developing the habit of bouncing my eyes and have relapsed several times even since reading this book, but this interview has given me a new sense of hope. I especially appreciate Mr. Stoeker’s habit of singing worship/love songs to Jesus before he even prays in the morning. I enjoy singing praise songs to Jesus, and I feel that if I can start doing this every day, it can help me break free once and for all.

Thank you for your podcast and for providing resources for those of us who did not know where to turn and hope for those of us that were hopeless. I hope to share a success story with you in the near future. God bless and keep up the good work.

  2. I read EMB last year as my first book to begin the healing process post-confession to my close friend and assistant pastor of our church. It’s amazing, and I appreciated not only the transparency of the authors…but the ‘bouncing of the eyes’ tool promoted. I’ve since read over ten books, and each have had a significant impact in not only helping achieve regular victory in the purity battle, but in how I perceive relationships among brothers and sisters altogether.

Great to hear from Mr. Stoeker, and a congrats on the ten year anniversary! Praise the Lord for EMB :)
