Episode 157
[powerpress]
Last week we began our conversation with John Freeman, president of Harvest USA and author of Hide or Seek: When Men Get Real with God About Sex.
This week he talks with us about how the gospel has the power to transform us—even when it feels like pornography has a strong grip on our hearts.
Show Notes:
1:00 – What are the two big steps to “get real” about your porn struggles?
3:00 – Who makes an ideal accountability partner?
6:43 – When it comes to overcoming the grip of our sin, what do you mean when you say “the gospel” is what frees us?
11:10 – How does the gospel disrupt the life of the porn addict?
15:50 – How does it mean that the gospel dispels the lie that we are powerless?
18:48 – Why do we have to believe the gospel is for me?
23:03 – What does it mean that the gospel takes us to “the banquet room”?
Ok. Someone explain to me exactly why sex is so sinful other than using a high selective book written thousands of years ago that contradicts itself everywhere? Then secondly, someone tell me why on earth would God not speak directly to his people on a consistent basis?
I don’t want to hear the common canned answers fundamentalists give. I want real answers. Because frankly, none of this makes a bit of sense. The hell human beings go through on this earth does not make a bit of sense. The inequity from one person to another does not make a bit of sense. I am leaning heavily to stop believing at all and frankly, the last thing I want to hear about is porn being evil. The reality is if you don’t like it. Don’t watch it. It is the simple. Stop pushing your made up illusions about what life should be on everyone else. There is a reason why Christianity is faltering everywhere. A lot of it does not make sense at all and no one gives real answers. Tell me. Why does God let one child be born in a gutter and the other in a mansion? Do you understand the level of corruption in this country? Trust me. Porn is the least of your worries. Go look at Building 7 fall like a controlled demolition. That is the level of corruption. That is how bad America is. We just lie to ourselves and focus on the tried and true evils.
The Gospels will transform me into what exactly? How do you know I am not already what the gospels want? Because I look at naked women having sex I am somehow lesser than Christians? If I am not what the gospels want, why did God make me in the first place. I didn’t ask to be born. So let me get this straight. I didnt ask to be born. I started out with sin from the start. My whole life is about making up for the sin I started out with even though I didnt ask to be born in the first place. My reward is to go to a place I cant see that I could have started out at in the first place. Why send me to earth? Then when I am sent to earth, why not instruct me directly but rather give me a book written by primitive peoples who though illnesses were demonic possessions. Come on.
