A study recently found those who post “self-promoting” pictures of themselves or who frequently update their information on their Facebook profiles or are either narcissistic or are struggling with low self-esteem.
The study, looking at 50 male and 50 female students from York University, examines how Facebook and other social networks offer a method of “self-presentation.”
What do you think about this study?
In the study the author makes a statement that despite the booming success of such friend-networking sites peer review publish research evaluating the impact of these sites on behavior and identity construction is scarce at best.
Well, when you set it up like that, seemingly you can get away with a tiny sample size (100) in a such a narrow vein of users (a specific university’s students) and use it to make freshman sociology assumptions boarding on the completely obvious.
Good times.
I am very skeptical of a “study” with such a small sample. It is impossible to draw a correlation based solely on that study…
