Tips for using Accountability Report

High-scoring sites appear occasionally on just about everybody's Accountability Report. Be careful you do not assume the worst. Here are some simple steps and reminders to follow:

Here are some suggested questions to ask the Covenant Eyes user if you see high-scoring websites on their Accountability Report. When speaking to the Covenant Eyes user, go in believing the best about their motivations or intentions.

  1. Ask your friend what the site had on it?
  2. Did you view pornography on this site?
  3. If so, how long were you on this site?
  4. Did you tell me the truth about what is on your report?

After speaking with Covenant Eyes user, you still have concerns, use the Accountability Report and Detailed Browsing Log to analyze the browsing activity further.

  1. Look at the Accountability Report again.
  2. Make note of the high-scoring website—date and time included.
  3. View the Detailed Browsing Log.
  4. Once at the Detailed Browsing Log, locate the website in question, using the date and time-stamp from the accountability report. This will allow you to determine more accurately the motivation of your friend.

If there is a pattern of highly objectionable sites, we always recommend that the user be confronted in love and (unless it is obvious that pornography has been viewed for a long time) given the benefit of the doubt. In many cases there really is a simple explanation for the questionable scores. Nevertheless someone involved in pornography will have numerous visits to multiple high-scoring websites. Almost always, these sites have blatantly pornographic or suspicious names.

Hits: A "hit" means that an item was downloaded to your computer from a website. The hits consist of images, text or files of another kind. These hits could also take you to another webpage. Every thing inside of a website that is scored. Example: Google searches do not register each link. The Google search and search words are scored.

Break Down of Internet Activity: Internet activity is summarized by the day and by the web page or website visited.
