Casting Crowns is taking Covenant Eyes on the road during The Altar and The Door tour to encourage people to escape the temptations of Internet pornography. The Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian band will tour more than 80 cities over 13 months.

"Covenant Eyes is the first wave of defense in a person's struggle for a pure thought life," said Mark Hall, lead singer for Casting Crowns. "I've been a member for years."

Hall said several songs on The Altar and The Door album deal with how people must overcome daily struggles and draw closer to God. The Internet, he said, is a tremendous source of temptation for many people. Surveys show up to 70 percent of men and 21 percent of women struggle with Internet pornography.

Youth leaders and others are learning more about Covenant Eyes during an intermission meeting at the concerts. As well, Covenant Eyes is sharing an information booth with Global Youth Ministry during the tour.

Casting Crowns earned its third Grammy Nov. 18 as "Favorite Artist" at the 2007 American Music Awards. The Altar and The Door album was certified Gold only 10 weeks after its historical debut at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. In its first week 130,000 copies sold - second in sales only to High School Musical 2 - setting a new record for a Christian artist without crossover promotion in the mainstream market.
