Covenant Eyes accountability software is based an age-old philosophy of accountability. When we are willing to give a continuing account of our thoughts and actions to others, this heightens our attentiveness to obey God. When others receive a continual account of our thoughts and actions, it enables them feed valuable and timely wisdom into our life. As we hold one another accountable, we are equipped to more specifically pray for one another. This doesn’t just go with our Internet viewing. Being accountable is a valuable practice for all areas of obedience to God.
I read a recent post by Dear Abby. A 16-year-old girl admits her addiction to porn and asks for Abby’s advice. I really appreciate the candid honesty of this girl, and the counsel Abby gives her. Abby writes, “the problem with pornography is the distorted vision it gives viewers of what sex is really about.”
I previously wrote a little about the influence that modern quantum theory has had on current worldviews. In particular, I believe it has had a much more profound effect than people realize, especially with regard to postmodernism. Postmodernism is generally characterized by narcissism and relativism – there is no absolute truth, and whatever I am doing is OK simply because it is what I am doing. “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” comes out this weekend in theaters. It’s been nearly 60 years since the CS Lewis classic was published. I thought it might be fitting, before I go see the film, to reflect on one of the rich ideas found in the tale of Caspian: the theme of faith. Faith, to some, may seem like a drab topic, but I think we’ll find that Lewis’ account of the topic is far richer than most of our theological definitions.
