Holy Lust – Fighting Sin with the Longings of the Spirit
Recently I had a chance to preach from one of my favorite texts, Galatians 5:16-17: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”
In this message I spell out what “the desires of the Spirit” are and how these affections displace the desire for sin. The basis for this message is my earlier post, “How ‘Holy Lust’ Trumps Unholy Lust.”
