Top 10 Blog Posts on Breaking Free
“Breaking Free” has published its 200th post!
When we hit our 100th post about 3 months ago I did a “Top 10” list of most popular posts. Here’s another list of the top 10 most read posts since then. Thanks to all of our regular readers.
10. Repenting of Porn Addiction - part 1 and part 2 – I wrote these posts after reading several other blogs and articles that express a great desire to break free from porn addiction. I noticed that in many of these articles the concepts of sin and repentance were missing. As God calls us to repent of sins that under gird our addictions, it’s important to have an accurate biblical picture of what repentance is.
9. Film Review - Traffic Control: The People’s War on Internet Porn – I wrote this post after giving a guest lecture at a local college. I showed the documentary “Traffic Control” and received reactions from some of the students. It is still the best film I’ve seen to date that discusses the subject of Internet porn.
8. More on “Porn Nation” - What Are the College Students Saying? – I first became interested in the ministry of Michael Leahy when I saw an online video of one of his presentations. Leahy has traveled to over 150 campuses around the country telling the story of his porn addiction and how it consumed 30 years of his life and ruined his marriage. I wrote this post after finding nearly 50 online periodicals from colleges and universities talking about his presentation.
7. The Only Way Out - Former Porn Star Has a Message for Her Fans – This is a testimony written by Erica, a former adult model. The more I read stories from women like her, the more I am convicted how it is all too easy to objectify women in our culture. Thanks for being brave and sharing your heart, Erica.
6. Six Reasons Why Guys Like Porn (and how to break free) – This post came after a long time of reflecting on Proverbs 7. In this passage Solomon paints a vivid picture of a man who is tempted by an alluring woman. As I read it, I find six ways that the man is enticed into following the woman home—the same six reasons why many men find it so enticing to look at porn again and again.
5. Myths about Pornography – In this post I talk about 6 myths concerning pornography that are prevalent in our world today.
4. Not Just a Man’s Problem - Women and Porn Addiction – The conversation about porn addiction is usually a male dominated discussion. I was asked by a friend one day to write up a post about this problem among women. I had no idea how much information was out there on this topic when I started, but female porn addictions have clearly become a more widespread problem than I had realized.
3. A Marriage Restored: one woman tells her story about her husband’s porn addiction - part 1, part 2, & part 3 – This is a series of three posts by Laura Booz. After listening to a recording of Laura’s husband Ryan speak openly about his porn addiction and how it nearly devastated his marriage, I found Laura’s blog. She agreed to tell the same story from her perspective. Thanks again, Laura and Ryan, for sharing a message of hope for so many couples who are hurt and confused over the effects of porn in their homes.
2. Why Some Christians Dislike Covenant Eyes (Part 2) – One day I found an invigorating discussion about Internet filters on a blog called “The Confessional Outhouse.” I realized in reading this blog that many Christians are opposed to Internet filtering for so called “theological reasons,” So I decided to throw in my two-cents worth on the subject.
And the #1 post is still . . .
1. Husbands Who Watch Porn - part 1 & part 2 – These posts have still, by far, received the most traffic. One day my wife stumbled across comments in an online forum from pregnant women who were struggling with their husbands watching pornography. I continue to be staggered by how many hits we get on the “Wives of Porn Addicts” category.

Congratulations on 200 posts! It is encouraging to come here and read about what God is doing in your life and the lives of those who share their stories. Thank you for all you do and for being such a great resource for those with an addiction to porn and those who support them in their recovery.
