Oh my gosh... what a blessing to be able to see that I am not alone in this addiction! Although it doesn't make it any easier to deal with, it lets me know that I am not as alone as I thought I was.
I am 43, the mother of 5 great children. I am married to my second husband of 2 yrs, and have struggled w/ pornography addiction (of some type or other) since I was a child. My sister and I were sexually abused by our father since we were little, and he frequently showed us pornography in our home (when Mom wasn't around, of course). I know this has alot to do w/ my current situation, and I hope to be able to get counseling for it someday. In the meantime, I appreciate reading the success stories that have been posted - there is hope! For me, I know my hope will have to lie in Jesus Christ, my savior, and in my Heavenly Father's strength. I have finally realized that I cannot do this ALONE! It just isn't in me, and Satan knows my weaknesses. I will go for months and months w/o a relapse and then it's like I never quit... so disheartening and squashes your self-esteem in a heartbeat.
This is holding me back from moving forward in my life - it always has. I pray that I can humble myself enough to rely on God and finally let him heal me. I know that I can be better than this and can be the Mom and wife that my family deserves.
Good luck to all you women, and girls, who share this burden. God bless each of us.

i am a messed up paranoid depressed woman, with no partner. Have been alone, boyfriend wise, virtually all my life yet have plenty of friends (who think im normal).
I am addicted to porn (amongst other things) and i think it can be due to a number of things like lack of intimacy and the interesting theory that amy posted about feminism and how women want men to just be men. I know in my case i find all the guys i know are more sensitive and emotional than myself, and i like to watch submissive females and dominant males in porn, although i always feel extremely depressed afterwards. I imagine myself in these situations but i dont REALLY want to be a sex slave. I dont think anyone really wants to no matter how erotic they find it. Personally, i feel that thats all im worth sexually and i think thats due to a lack in any relationship with men besides one night stands. A lot of my troubles with porn stem from a childhood experience when i was raped but to be honest i think for the majority of women addicted to porn you can sum up the problem in one word: loneliness

I know several people who use your service (Covenant Eyes) to provide a level of accountability with their sponsors. Although I disagree with the religious stuff, it is an excellent program that anyone can use.

While I can understand the reasoning in the previous comment, I totally disagree that feminism has much to do with it. Eroticized rage, self-hatred, and betrayal bonding, often stemming from incident(s) of childhood sexual abuse are more likely to be the driving force behind that particular type of pornography.

Not having any form of research background in the realm of women and porn, I do have a personal opinion on why porn is attractive to some women. Intimacy issues aside, I can't help but wonder if the draw for some women to porn is a twisted desire to get in line with the God-given design of man and woman. Feminism has tuned so many women into power hungry, control freaks and the side effect is quite bluntly - wimpy men. So my theory is that much like some men enjoy porn for the way the women respond to the men in the film - maybe for some women it is watching men be an exaggeration of what often defines men. Similar to the whole S&M world - do the submissive women actually like being "sexual slaves" or just plain "slaves" or do they enjoy the fact that the dominant one (typically the male) is in charge. That is the way God designed it - not to be abused as often is the case in the S&M world and porn - but the man is supposed to be the leader. So maybe women have created a world where it is hard for the man to BE a man and so the fantasy of an extreme version of this is manifested in the watching of porn.
