New Marmot Day Contest – Wood Chucking Contest
A brand new contest has been announced for Marmot Day.
How much wood could you chuck (toss) in 15 seconds? How much wood could a wood chucker chuck in 15 seconds? Well, we are going to find out! On July 27, immediately following the Marmot Deliberation at 12:45 P.M. at Covenant Eyes’ office, wood chuckers from all walks of life will gather to find out who is the best woodchucker of them all! There will be three divisions: anyone weighing under 100 pounds will be in the Ground Squirrel Division; anyone 100 pounds or more will be in the Woodchuck Division; and any governor will be in the Governor’s Division.
It is hoped that Governor Granholm of Michigan and Governor Palin of Alaska will attend. The Alaska State Legislature has proclaimed its own Marmot Day.
Each contestant must register beforehand. Then each contestant will be provided with a pile of wood, and will be given 15 seconds to see how much wood he/she can chuck across a line approximately 20 feet away. The winner of each division will be the person throwing the greatest number of pieces of wood across the line. Any piece of wood that is at least 50% across the line will be counted. The wood will then be brought back for the next contestant. Chuck will be the judge, and all decisions of the judge will be final.
There will be trophies for each division.
