  1. When you say in your closing remarks about not settling for less than true intimacy, what does that mean? How do get through this difficult time? Contiplating divorce from my husband of 14 years because I just want to feel real love. He says that is just a fairy tale not reality.

    • sad,
I’m sorry to hear about your situation. In reality neither romanticism nor pessimism is correct. Love is both a choice and an emotion. You must work at romance. He is wrong for trying to squash your desire for a tender and affectionate relationship, but he might not be reacting to your actual desires as much as he is misunderstanding you. You aren’t asking for a 24-7 emotional high. You are asking for genuine devotion, with all its ups and downs.

True intimacy involves work: it involves two people laying down their rights and serving one another. For some men, this is difficult because pornographic fantasy has trained them to find a cheap replacement for intimacy.

I recommend you look around our blog. We have tons of stories here from women who have been in your shoes.
