Glitch in the Scoring

The information in this post is outdated. For a detailed description of how our new Web rating system works, visit here.

Hey, Covenant Eyes Members, have you noticed some unusually high scores on your most recent accountability report?

Last Friday we altered a portion of our website scoring system. In the process of implementing those changes, an error was inserted into our scoring system that caused random sites to score 30. The error was introduced Friday afternoon, and detected Saturday afternoon. This means the following:

1. People who received email reports on Saturday may see a lot of high scoring sites that should not have scored high.
2. People who were running the Covenant Eyes filter would have had sites blocked that should not have been blocked.
3. The website report generation was turned off from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning.

First, we apologize for any scoring malfunctions that have caused any confusion. We take the accuracy of our scoring system very seriously. We currently have procedures to protect against this sort of problem, and we will implement additional steps to prevent it from happening again.

Secondly, if your accountability report was miscalculated, we assure you that all sites scored in error have been removed from everyone’s logs. We are also in the process of re-scoring these sites correctly and placing them back into each Member’s logs. Once we have re-scored everything, we will send out a new report for anyone who had a report emailed to them since the problem was introduced.

Again, we apologize to all of our Members and thank you for your patience and understanding.
